I was born in Ashington, Northumberland in 1986 but have lived most of my life in  County Durham.

From a young age, I have enjoyed writing and creating unique and memorable characters. As a teenager and young adult, my friends and I often filmed comedy skits and sketches where I played a whole host of weird and wonderful people. At university in the mid-2000s, I tried my hand at screenwriting and found I loved the creative process of putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) and letting a world spill out.

Writing has also been a great comfort to me in my darkest times. Throughout my 20's and early 30's, I struggled with bouts of depression, panic and anxiety. I spent many an hour lost in a notebook, escaping into a world I created instead of the one I was floundering in. (A certain Reaper and his school bus made his first appearance in those days!)

With the support of my amazing wife Kayleigh, I pushed myself to do what I'd always wanted. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I took the plunge and started writing a book for real. Lo and behold, I didn't hate what I read back! With the encouragement of Kayleigh and my family, 'Reap Sleep Rock Repeat' was published in March 2023.

I have dreamed of writing my own novel for most of my adult life. Thank you to all who have indulged me by reading it.

REVIEWS

"This was a very funny, engaging and lighthearted romp on the not-so-light-hearted topics of death and death-anxiety. It's a quick read, and takes you on a real journey, where you meet lots of weird and unusual characters. The writing is engaging and compels you along nicely. If you enjoy Terry Pratchett's work, or the BBC sitcom Ghosts, or (weirdly-perhaps) courtroom dramas, I do think you'll find something to enjoy in this novel, and there's tonnes of fun content and easter eggs there for fans of rock and metal music. Overall, I think my favourite scenes were those where the inhabitants of the afterlife made the trip across the life-death boundary and interacted with the living, so I'm hoping the sequel offers more of this! Either way though, I am looking forward to reading the sequel when it arrives! Recommended."
